Powder coating is an advanced technique used for finishing steel structures, such as the TYTAN MT front loader from Metal-Technik.
This process provides a durable and aesthetic coating that protects against corrosion and mechanical damage.
Below is a detailed description of the powder coating process, its advantages, and coating durability.
Powder coating process
1. Surface preparation
– Sandblasting: Before powder coating, the steel structure is thoroughly cleaned using sandblasting. All contaminants, rust, and old coatings are removed, ensuring proper surface roughness. This process was described earlier.
– cleaning: after shot blasting, the structure is cleaned of shot residue and dust to ensure a clean surface ready for powder coating application.
2. Powder coating
– electrostatic application: powder paint is applied to the surface of the charger using a spray gun, which electrostatically charges the powder particles. This causes the powder to adhere to the steel surface, creating a uniform layer.

3. Coating Curing
– Oven curing: After applying powder coating, the structure is moved to an oven where it is heated to a temperature of approximately 180-200°C. During curing, the powder melts and forms a uniform, smooth coating on the steel surface.
– Quality Control: After being removed from the oven, the coating is inspected for uniformity, thickness, and aesthetics. It is also checked for defects such as blisters or drips.

- Solvent-free: Powder coatings do not contain solvents, making the process more ecological and environmentally friendly compared to traditional painting methods.
– Waste minimization: excess powder that does not adhere to the surface can be recovered and reused, which increases process efficiency and reduces waste.
4. Coating Durability
– Longevity: The powder coating on the TYTAN MT front loader is characterized by its very high durability. It can withstand many years of intensive use, retaining its protective and aesthetic properties.
– UV resistance: The powder coating is resistant to UV radiation, which prevents color fading and surface degradation from sun exposure.
– chemical resistance: this coating is resistant to most chemicals, including oils, greases and cleaning agents, which is important for maintenance and use in an agricultural environment.
